Leadership, Minor

A curriculum spanning across academic schools; providing students with a focused leadership instruction and making St. Bonaventure students sought after for their competence and professionalism.  The program stems from the Bonaventure Mission of bringing out the best in every individual, preparing students for the challenges faced in their upcoming professional careers, and manifesting their values in becoming good citizens.  The scope of the leadership minor is to provide the tools for students to allow them to ethically influence people though purpose, 方向, 和动力.

Minor Requirements: 

学生 map out a program of study that includes 9 credits of Leadership Theory, 6 credits of Leadership Development, and 3 credits of a Capstone experience totaling 18 credits.

The Leadership minor is open to all undergraduate degree-seeking students regardless of 他们的主要s.

  1. Provide students a curricular outcome of their leadership theory and experiences on campus.
  2. Empower students to connect leadership to their personal and professional growth, 他们的主要, and to a community of practice. 
  3. Prepare students to serve effectively in formal and informal leadership roles on campus and in their lifelong pursuits.
  4. To showcase individual student interests and goals through mentorship, personal development strategies, and internship placements.

Student Learning outcomes: 

  1. 学生 将 describe, apply and criticize major leadership theories, and assess their own leadership qualities in relation to theoretical principles.
  2. Students 将 understand leadership ethics and service to others and assess leadership behaviors in an ethical context.
  3. 学生 将 understand the methods and skills needed for critical thinking and decision-making and be prepared to interpret situations and cases beyond simple scenarios.
  4. 学生 understand the importance of civic engagement and community activism as measured through volunteerism, community and campus service, team projects and class assignments.
  5. Students 将 understand, synthesize, and evaluate self-leadership preparation by effective communication as measured by a final portfolio.
